July 21 Stupidity
Nigel on Why He Smokes BANGSAR: Renowned Bangsarian Nigel Gan defended his habit of smoking in a press conference held yesterday at Bangsar Village II. Gan was responding to recent questions raised about his habit of smoking. Gan said his smoking habit is a long-term plan to stay healthy, stating that his smoking habit cuts down his need to binge on unhealthy snacks which may eventually lead to health problems. "Please understand that the only reason I am smoking is because I am looking after my health. If I don't, I will develop a habit of eating snacks which causes obesity and diabetes. "I am not saying that smoking is healthy, but in reality it is healthier then eating unhealthy food. It will also help me save money in the long run as smoking also helps reduce stress. I have studied all angles before deciding to start smoking" he said. Gan also defended himself on another accusation of him being a shopaholic, stating it is also part of his long term plan to cut costs. "If I have the money now, why can't I buy the things I need? Isn't it better to buy now rather than buying in the future when prices are increasing everyday? Isn't this saving money?" - Reuters July 14 First Day JittersWell, not exactly jitters, but I never liked the first day of anything. Its always very awkward, confusing, shy and boring. Things seem so unfamiliar and everybody seems too nice. I always feel like a fool being shown around the office. I guess I don't really like changes. Nobody does. I guess I just got too comfortable with my daily routines at the old place that I feel uneasy trying to adapt and adjust to new ones.
So the first day at the new place was like that. Boring, awkward and trying to adjust and adapt.
Hopefully this "adjusting" period doesn't take too long.
July 07 You Know You're Having a Quarter Life Crisis When..1. You start (and enjoy) reminiscing about old times in high school or college and how much fun and care free it was.
2. You rather sit in a cafe with a bunch of friends and just chatting rather than having fun at a club or getting drunk.
3. You're critical of the "youths" today, and start comparing how different it was then even though you were at that age just not too long ago.
4. Old songs you grew up to starts being more enjoyable than the new songs that are being played now.
5. You start watching the old cartoons and shows you grew up to and usually comment about how they don't have shows like these anymore.
6. Getting drunk is not that fun anymore and doing the random stuff you used to do back in the day seems rather crazy and "undo-able" now
7. You constantly complain about your job or sometimes feel insecure about your job or career path.
8. You costantly need (and want) more money to "survive".
9. You want the volume of the radio in the car to be slightly softer so you can enjoy a conversation with the passengers in your car.
10. Loud music seems to annoy the fuck out of you.
11. You do not have a huge group of friends like you used to in college or high school but feel rather more comfortable to sticking to your small group of friends.
12. You start planning for the future cos living for the day just doesn't seem to work anymore.
13. You yearn for more holidays so you can escape the harsh realities of work life.
14. You start using the phrase "those days ar.."
Sigh.... July 03 Then and Now
Cartoons these days are rather lame compared to what we use to have during the 80s or early 90s. Although back then cartoons were mostly a marketing ploy to sell cool toys, I think the various concepts of the cartoons were cool, even though most of them had the basic good vs evil theme (and for some reason, all of them had cool helmets. I guess kids were very fascinated by helmets back then). The Visionaries
M.A.S.K (Mobile Armored Strike Kommand)
Dino Riders I distinctively remembered these toys being the coolest and most expensive. I think I only had 1 or 2 of these toys, and it would still be cool if it was selling today.
Thundercats
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I had Donatello. The Real Ghost Busters
There were obviously more but these were personally my favourites. However, try watching it again now (they have episodes on youtube!) and it seems really stupid. The jokes, the animation, etc all seems quite weird and silly now. Try laughing at the one liner jokes they always have at the end of every episode, where the whole team will laugh together till the credits start rolling.
I still think cartoons back then were WAY cooler than the lame ones they have now:
I think there's no contest. |
