February 21 First Comes LoveIts the celebration of us. Its been the most amazing ride I've been on, and you and I know its only gonna get better.
Its been a year. And without hardly even realising it. That just goes to show how great it has been.
I ain't gonna say much or anything that I haven't said before, but just wanna re-emphasize that fact that I love you so much.
Happy Anniversary Baby. You know its just the beginning of something very special.
February 19 Square PegHave you ever come across a 'friend' who never seem to fit in with the rest of the group? A person who nobody in your group likes and can never click, but still tries (too) hard to get along with everybody and just fit in. It may be a new colleague, collegemate, housemate or just a random friend that just so happen to hang out in your group everytime.
Its annoying, but yet sometimes abit sad as you wouldn't really want to be in his or her shoes. It may be the pettiest of things, but yet it still irritates the fuck out of you...and yet when another friend does the same thing it doesn't annoy or bother you as much. Every joke seems lame and they have nothing, as in absolutely nothing, in common with the rest of the group. You know when friends like to tease and poke fun at each other, but yet when they do it it just seems insulting and stupid. The sad part is everybody (me being quite often the most guilty one) in the group tries its best to make them feel as uncomfortable as possible to hopefully make them feel left out, leave or simply get the hint.
Yet, the SADDER part is that more often than not they DON'T get the hint, or just don't wanna accept the fact that they just don't belong. They'll still come back tying even harder and it pisses the rest of the group off even more.
Then they'll come to a phase where they'll play the "I'm nice, so like me!" card. They'll try to be the nicest people on earth by giving you chocolates, buying you lunch, lending you stuff, etc. They'll try to make it seem like they're the best friend you'll ever have. This usually results in the rest of the group taking advantage of them and they're now the "sucker" or "sohai" cos you think they waiting in vain for something in return for their niceness. Either that or you'll find them even more annoying for trying to be "too nice".
For certain cases, they'll be a time where they will feel if they can't win them all, try to win at least some of them. This is the time they'll start bitching about other friends, or letting out secrets that the other friend isn't suppose to know. Their motive is to try to make other friends feel asif they too are not that different or special and they'll finally have someone that'll listen (cos you'll always want to know who's bitching about you and what).
Then there''ll be the final phase where they actually had enough, got the hint and leave the group, to nobody's dissapointment. In normal circumstances, they'll leave without hardly anyone ever noticing till one day someone just says "eh, whatever happened to the sohai who used to hang out with us?". Then the bitching will start again, laughing and making fun of his stupid attempts to fit in and his stupid lame jokes.
When you look at it, its quite sad really. Nobody likes the feeling of not being wanted or not belonging, the feeling of everyone trying to avoid hanging out with you. However, we somehow wonder why they don't try to find other groups to hang out with since they know they don't belong. I bet everyone has come across this person at least once in their lifetime.
I just hope I was never 'that' guy with any of my friends. February 12 Happy New Year IndeedBack at work and feeling as lazy and unmotivated as ever. Its a good thing that I won't be taking another long leave anytime soon cos it ust makes it difficult to come into work and actually working. Its almost 2 months into the new year now but I still havent done anything productive in the office to date (except for making Facebook seem like the greatest creation ever).
Chinese New Year seems to be getting less fun the older you get, and by 'fun' I mean money. It's a good thing that I managed to get ang pows from the 'in-laws' to make up from the consistently reducing ang pows from my aunts and uncles.
However, it has so far been a great start to the new year. From having four-day weeks to receiving unexpected financial assistance, it kinda makes me feel that this year is gonna be somewhat special. All I need now is a new job.
Happy Chinese New Year to all. Now its only 318 days to Christmas.
